ALERT ❗ ❗ ❗
I am running a two-day workshop exploring “Child Medical Tourism & Healthcare Globalisation” on 19-20th September at Deakin University from 10am-4pm at our City Campus.
This workshop is free to attend and catered for and you get to hear from (or present) on thought-provoking and topical issues about children and healthcare.
If you are interested – please contact me: neera.bhatia@deakin.edu.au
The workshop will explore a range of issues that pertain to parents seeking to travel overseas/interstate for medical treatment (often novel/experimental) treatment for their critically sick children.
The workshop aims to bring together a range of expertise and voices – including academics, ethicists, clinicians, and parents with lived experiences to consider the “medical, ethical, legal, and social” implications of parents travelling for treatment for sick children.
It is anticipated that some of the outputs of the workshop will include co-authored journal articles, surveys, and possible law reform submissions.
👉 This workshop is part of a project funded by the UK Arts and Humanities Research Council and is co-led with Dr Giles Birchley (University of Bristol,UK).
